bedtime pictures

merrill says to self- "oh no, what are you about to do?"

emery says to self, "maybe if I lay on top of merrill, i won't have to go to bed!"

emery's been told no, but merrill's still not sure she's safe!

We're all clean!

merrill's week

Merrill has had a rough week...she got another cold, but was still acting okay. The roughness started on monday night. Merrill decided that 5:15 a.m. was an appropiate bedtime. She would fall asleep and then wake up screaming. I tried everything to get her good and asleep. I was beside myself because so far this has not been her nature. She finally feel asleep and got a couple of hours of sleep in. So we rolled out of bed bright and early with Emery tuesday morning. I decided that I desparetely needed a nap, so we headed to my mom's. My mom was holding her and told me to, "look!" She had yellow "stuff" coming out of her ear. So, forgo the nap and head to the doctor! The pediatrician decided that she was too young for an oral antibiotic so we just did the ear drops with antibiotics.

Wednesday- head back to the doctor for her 6 week visit. She gets 2 shots which is one of the hardest things a mommy has to watch. Side note- we're up to 8lbs., 11 oz!

Wednesday evening- fall of the recliner! That's right- this mommy actually thought merrill would be okay on the recliner. I mean she's only 6 weeks old. This child somehow managed to roll off and hit the floor! Once I heard the scream, I promise I have never moved as fast as I did!

On top of all of this, Merrill has some pretty bad baby acne going on right now! We couldn't get her to go to bed last night until 11:30. Jim just knew that her acne was hurting her- ha, ha!

I can tell that today she's feeling better. I just hate seeing such tiny ones sick, because there is nothing I can do. I wish they made infant motrin!

We've been busy with a bunch of nothing this week! We went over to my mom's house several times- we're working on some matching outfits for Emery and Merrill. I'm getting pretty excited about the matching outfit thing. I'm actually having to tell myself to CALM DOWN! I've attempted sewing several times, but I am determined to make it work this time. I'll post pictures when I'm done! Other than hanging out with runny noses, not much else is going on!

Pre-manicure pictures- Emery's been dying for painted fingernails. We exchanged her eating her dinner for a lovely shade of pink!

Don't they look beautiful!

just a picture of the outfit Emery and Jim picked out for nap!

Sitting with Daddy

Lovely picture of Merrill right? I'm not sure when I allowed the boppy to be a prop for a picture, but anyhow.... This is a picture of the dress my mom made for Merrill- she wore it to church for the first time!

heading to church

ha- the best picture of my girls! We've worked so hard to get Emery to smile for the camera. I guess we should have been a little more specific. All of our smiles are like this now, and I'm sure it won't get better for while!

pictures

When I go back through my camera I realize I'm not taking as many pictures as I should be. We got out a lot this week and my camera was always with me, I just need another hand to actually use it!

A month old already!

How daddy leaves us every morning!

I don't think I've posted about Merrill's hair- we're growing a rat tail already!

I thought this was just funny!

very serious look- can you see the bow in her hair?

Emery is really into pony tails these days. This was my first attempt at giving her two little pigtails. She left them in a few hours and then told me they were hurting her!

funny story

So, tonight Emery and I head to church. (we left daddy and merrill at home!) As we are loading up, Emery drops some of her bacon out of her bowl on the driveway. (we are always carrying our meals with us because she eats only when she wants. who's in control here anyway?) She bends and picks it up and puts it back in her bowl. After about a minute, Emery says I don't want this stick anymore! I wasn't sure what that meant, so I turned the light on and noticed this black thing on her lip.She then hands me a stick. Instead of eating her bacon she was eating a stick she had picked up from the driveway! She then kept saying, "that stick was icky!!" What kind of parent am I??

I'll post pictures later, Merrill is 4 weeks today! Crazy...

bowling

My family went bowling today! It was actually Emery's first time to bowl, and I think she enjoyed it. We missed all the guys- Uncle Nathan, Bud, (my brother- his name is really austin- I didn't want anyone to think that was his real name!), and of course Daddy! Merrill and Bennett both got to take good naps while being held by Aunt Tam and Uncle Bob. Be patient with me on the pictures. I got a little camera for christmas and I'm learning how to use it! I don't have a memory card yet so the camera would only hold a few pictures.

my grandmother- the best bowler in the family!

Pop helping Emery roll the ball. By the time the game was over, she was high fiving people after she rolled.

cousin nolan's perferred way of bowling..

after a game of bowling it was time for a healthy snack- a bowl of sprinkles! My grandmother's favorite treat to give them!

home alone & christmas

We had an absolutely wonderful Christmas! I feel like we've celebrated for weeks now! The decorations are coming down slowly and we are digging our way out of several weeks worth of disorder. I won't be a debbie downer, but I think this time of year is really hard. I love, love Christmas time, and then boom, welcome to January. It is just a dark, gray month, but I'm trying to be positive this year!!! We have so much to be happy and excited for!

Yesterday (wed.) was our first day alone with out Daddy, Kiki, or any other visitors. I would say that we did pretty good! We didn't go anywhere though. But I did manage to get a shower- I'm pretty impressed with myself for that! Emery is REALLY enjoying her sister. So much that we are having to watch her very closely!

please excuse the order of the pictures....

Jim's parents made yet another trip up to Nashville. Emery loves her Nana & Poppy!

Looking at a picture Nana got for Christmas... (Not sure where Em's pants are!)

What on earth is this? It's a belly button!!! It fell out, and I'm so excited. I had to take a picture, because we don't have much luck with the "raisin" around here. Emery's fell off and the dog ate it. I know, very gross! Merrill's fell off and was missing for a day and a half, but we found it! Don't worry, its in the trash now though!

Merrill and Tori with Uncle Steve- celebrating Christmas with the Church side of the family.

A picture of all three of the girl cousins- we're excited to welcome a little boy to the mix in June! I should re-phrase- not we, but cousins Kristen and Adam are having a little boy!

Our sweet baby got a cold at 2 weeks thanks to big sister! It is so pitiful when the are so tiny and can't breathe and you can't give them anything. She sleeps propped up in between us! I thought nursing was close to 100% immunity- guess not!

The picture that made it to the Christmas card. We are getting some comments on how dark merrill is! ha,ha She was just a week old in this picture and I think she still looks really fresh from the hospital!

Helping Uncle "Bud" open gifts Christmas Eve at Grandmothers.

Every year, Jim picks out a gift for Emery. Throughout the year, I've been getting Emery to ask Jim if we could have a kitty cat. So, we got one for Christmas. But, its not real!! Emery saw the kitty in the bag and said, " That scares me!" I didn't blame her, it breathes like a real cat!

Miss Sassy Pants checking out her new Dora video Christmas morning at Kiki and Pops.

Okay, so view the below to pictures at your own risk. After looking through the 100 plus pictures of Christmas, these were the only 2 that had Jim and I in them! The rest were just candid shots that we took I guess just to say we had Christmas this year! I just didn't want anyone to think we weren't around!

Daddy opening Barbie Peacock and all the other 1000 pieces that came with it!

Emery wanted to hold Merrill- and that means one of us must supervise! Please note the following- the dirty diaper to the right of me, the boppy, bed pillow, other toys- if you could only see my house!!! And yes, I realize how I look- the no makeup, no shower look! Just be glad I'm out of my pjs!
Happy 2008!
