Many of you that I talk to on a regular basis know this story, but those of you that don't might find it funny. I didn't at first!
My sister is getting married on July 7th. So, several months ago, I had to go be fitted for the dress. Of course, I'm not crazy about someone taking a tape measure to my body.... but this is how it has to be done!
So I go over to the store. The "sweet" little lady takes my measurements and then whispers what size she thought I needed. I said pretty loudly, "whatever size you think," trying to politely let her know that I WAS NOT going to leave the store crying over what size dress I had to order.
My mom then steps over to my rescue after hearing me and asks the sales lady about the sizing. The sales lady then turns to me and does/says the following:
1. pinches my stomach
2. asks if I will be smaller by July
3. ask me if I had heard of spanx before
4. tells me that I'm "soft" in my mid-section from having the "baby" as she points to Emery (I mean really?)
So, I left with the "sweet" little lady telling me that she did feel comfortable ordering down one size. Well thanks! I really appreciate it!
Well, the dress is in. I have to try it on to see if any alterations are needed. My mom insists on escorting me because she fears that I might physically hurt the lady! I would never, but I don't think its unreasonable for me to not be jumping for joy to get over there! Wouldn't you be a little offended? I can laugh about it now, because the "sweet" little lady did something even ruder (is that a word) to another one of the bridesmaids!
I'll keep you posted on how my next encounter with the "sweet" old lady goes!
