I put this on for you to look at my feet.I feel like I have to explain. I'm terrified of lake water. I think if I keep them on the surface, nothing will get me! Oh, the things you do for your children!

I'm about to let misplacing one of Merrill's dresses ruin my day.... Deep down I know I have no reason to feel sorry for myself though! Watch the video below. My father in law sent it to me yesterday. I bet you'll be teary!

The son asked his father, 'Dad, will you take part in a marathon with me?'. The father who, despite having a heart condition, says 'Yes'. They went on to complete the marathon together. Father and son went on to join other marathons, the father always saying 'Yes' to his son's request of going through the race together. One day, the son asked his father, 'Dad, let's join the Ironman together.' To which, his father said 'Yes' too.

For those who don't know, Ironman is the toughest triathlon ever. The race passes three endurance events of a 2.4 mile (3.86 kilometer) ocean swim, followed by a 112 mile (180.2 kilometer) bike ride, and ending with a 26.2 mile (42.195 kilometer) marathon along the coast of the Big Island. Father and son went on to complete the race together.

St. Simons Island

We headed to the beach last week with Jim's family and stayed for a long weekend. Perfect weather and boy did we eat good!! As with any vacation there are always many firsts!

My favorite first of this trip was the airport experience. The first picture below was taken after my mom dropped us off at the airport 2 hours before our flight left- too much time with 2 little ones! Then on the way back- totally different story. Remember that scene from Home Alone? Well, that was us- got dropped off at 7:30 for a 7:55 flight!! We had to run through the airport!Poor Merrill all 4 of her limbs were flopping as I ran and carried her to our terminal. Emery enjoyed every minute of the drama-Daddy had to carry her! I'm obviously not doing much running these days so I was completely out of breath as we pulled up to the gate to find our plane was just arriving.... Jim and I couldn't relax until we were at our house! I'm still not sure how 4 adults could misjudge our time that bad! It's funny now though!

The lovely guy in the background of this picture enjoyed some topless grilling as well as some topless playground time- Hilarious!
The original Byerlys- Ray, Poppy, Nana, & Jim

a rarity- a picture of just me and Merrill

I thought this was sweet

Merrill was a champ- took a nap everyday for me in the stroller

We are headed out of town but couldn't leave and let all of you think that my cousin Kristen was still in labor!! She had sweet baby Caden Church Spencer early last Thursday. Congrats to both Kristen (miss au-naturale) and Adam!! Can't wait to meet him in person! Some pictures from the last few days....

I took both girls with me to a dentist appointment. If Em was good- I told her we could make brownies. At one point all 3 of us were up on the chair, but in my book that qualified because no one was crying. Emery helps herself to the brownie batter and also shared with her little sister. Nice... raw eggs at 6 months! some nashvillians will recognize the "professor" from the downtown library storytime in this picture. Emery finally made it up to the stage for the last song! I'm so proud!

at a birthday party a week ago emery had her first car date. Let's just say that this pair would make quite an intense couple. I jokingly said to them, "are you going to play golf for your date?" I could hear them arguing about it!! Peter saying yes, and Emery saying no!

family went to mcdougals one night- restaurant patios are one of my favorite things about summer

a (faux) mother's day picture. I never posted about mother's day this year. All I will say is that I have a wonderful mother and that I hope to be as good a mother as her to my girls. (I'm wondering why I'm squating. I don't believe I will ever do that in a picure again!)

Jim making fun of me because I wanted a picture

A tiny (faux) father's day picture! Jim is such a great daddy to these girls! We are all so glad to have you! (This picture was taken before the one with me and the girls. So, I guess Jim started the squatting thing!)
And if you are still reading..... 2 quick funny things
the scene- Captains D's for sunday lunch (I bet some of your stomach's are turning at that thought!)Emery and I convince Jim to go in and eat. Emery's complaining because her chicken doesn't look right and Merrill is exhausted and crying. Emery looks at me and says, "what's the matter- (as she glances at Merrill) she want your boobie?"
the scene- our den
Jim and I are talking and all the sudden emery says, "did you hear that? It sounds like swiper."
(from Dora the explorer- I'm sure many of you are familiar with him!)
Me: Oh, really?
Emery: Careful mommy, he's going to swipe your boobie!
I mean, what in the world??
