It's a......

Girl!!!! I didn't have a feeling one way or the other, but Jim said he thought it was a girl! Everything looks as it is supposed to. I almost had to report back that we weren't able to find out the sex. It wasn't until the last minute of the ultrasound that "she" decided to cooperate. She was face down and curled up the whole time!I would have had a hard time waiting another 4 weeks!

I wish she had a name, but Jim won't cooperate! Just teasing.... We both need to agree!! I would post a picture from today, but my ss# was at the top, and I don't know how to crop it out! Oh well.....

Tickled Pink or Tickled Blue?

We don't know yet!!! We find out Wednesday morning. I'm getting really excited, and its funny, considering I was the one that didn't want to find out! I don't have a feeling one way or the other as to the sex, but Jim says girl.... We'll see! I'll post as soon as I can!

We headed to Atlanta this weekend to celebrate Jim's mom's 60th birthday! I haven't uploaded any pictures, but will do so soon!

We saw two of Jim's cousins and their wives... both the women are teachers and were talking about going back to school! It's hard to believe its almost August. I feel like we have so much left to do this summer! Hope that everyone has been enjoying their summer like we have!

Horses

Aren't horses so pretty!! With that said, I'm truly terrified of these massive things. I have two reasons:

1) First, I have an uncle who told me when I was a wee girl that I should never stand near a horse because they could kick you. To this day, I'm still not sure which way their legs go- frontwards, sideways, or backwards? Or can they move in all of the above directions???

2) Secondly, after meeting Jim, I decided I should try again to like horses. He seemed to love all different kinds of animals. We went to Memphis and rode on the oldest, slowest horses known to man. It was a state park and neither the horses nor the workers wanted to be there. At one point, Jim had to get off his horse and lead his and mine. I wasn't about to get off that thing... It could kick me!!! So as the ride finally came to an end, I was getting off the horse, (the rest of the group had already finished) my foot got stuck in the stir-up and yes, get your laugh out, I fell flat on my back! The worker never offered me a hand, and just looked and said, You okay? I said I would never come within 20 feet of one again!

So, as it would be, I have a child that loves "horsies!" We live near Ellington Agricultural center, which is where they house all the metro mounted patrol horses. Frequently, the horses are out grazing and I have never made myself stop.

So, Saturday, there was a farm day at Ellington. We decided to take Emery. She absolutely loved it! I, on the other hand, reaffirmed why I don't care for horses!!!!

Getting used to petting the horse....

Me petting the horse. The horse "nudged" me twice. Jim said this is normal. I was thinking, that wasn't a nudge, the thing doesn't like me! The third time he "nudged" I saw teeth, and I mean big teeth! I mean I saw tartar in those teeth, that's how wide he opened his mouth! That horse, whose name was Solo, tried to bite me!!! Even Jim said at that point, okay, that wasn't a nudge! I'm done trying to like them. That can be something Jim and Emery can do together- WITHOUT me!

Of course there was a John Deere too....

Jim and I need a refresher course on our animals... Is this a donkey or a mule?

Petting a sheep... At least I think its a sheep!

Wedding Weekend

Here are some of the pictures we got from this weekend. Looking back, I would have taken more, but its hard to remember to take your camera everywhere when you're in the wedding! I have none of the reception or of the bride and groom together on their wedding day! I guess that's why you pay a real photographer! I am happy to report that Emery and cousin Nolan made it done the aisle. Nolan actually had to pull Emery. Jim and Nathan (Nolan's daddy) followed a few feet behind. Talk about sweet and emotional thing for a mommy and wife to watch! Weddings are so fun! We are so excited that everything went well and that we're getting a new addition to our family! I hope these don't bore anyone!

Bride and Groom at the Rehearsal dinner. We had Baja Burrito and it was so yummy!
This is as much of me in the dress as we got on our camera! Kind of glad... ha,ha

Updates

Looking at the fireworks

Going to see the fireworks over at Lipscomb. It was a very impressive show! They were blaring all this music, and Jim and I kept laughing saying, they would have never played that when we were there!

Jumping in...

This picture should have been before the above one... Emery was extra whiney yesterday, and it took her a while to want to really get in the pool and play...

In Daddy's shoes.....

Jim's taught Emery to hold his nextel and say 10-4. She doesn't without command now! He's also taught her to call me Liz, and himself, Jim! NOT a fan of that! Also, please note how many "things" she's holding in this picture! This is an all day thing. It really stresses me out when we leave the house and everybody has to go with us!

My sister is getting married this weekend! It's hard to believe that its already here! I'm getting so excited about all the festivities... I've always loved wedding weekends!

I haven't updated on my bridesmaid dress, have I? Well, if you need to, go back and find my post about the sweet little lady that we bought the dresses from..... Anyway, my mom decided to find someone else to alter my dress, and aunt Amy's dress. My original dress made me look a bit like Betty Boop, well not a bit, but a lot! So, Amy took my original dress, and I took her original. She was measured when she was about the same weeks pregnant I am now. She's since had Bennett and needed mine. I feel pretty lucky that it worked out that well. If it hadn't I would have been a little uncomfortable that night. So, we found a lady to take up my dress. I tried it on the other night, it was okay from the front, but then I turned to the side and mom and I both gasped... Somehow there were these cone-like points coming out of the dress at the top. But, it was in the weirdest spot! So, needless to say, my mom has decided that she would alter and I'll try on again today! Hope it works.. We're running out of time!

On the baby note.... I went to the doctor last week. Everything I guess is going well. These are those 5 minutes blood pressure, weight, heartbeat appointments. We have our ultrasound in less than 3 weeks now! I think we will find out the sex... I've told Jim, he better get off work to go to that appointment, or else, everything is in my hands! I still think it would be fun to not find out. My mom keeps saying, "but the nursery, the nursery!"

I'm sure I'll have many pictures to post after this weekend!

A Sad Day

I'm laying on the couch today, somewhat sick, and watching a much needed rain.... But, I can't seem get this out of my head....

Six months ago was Christmas Day, 2006. Jim, Emery, and I were coming from my parents house back to ours to change clothes and head to the next family function. We turned onto Hogan Road, which many of you are familiar with, and noticed that Interstate 65 up above was trafficy and there were police and ambulances. As we got closer to going under the tunnels, we noticed that a car was stopped underneath the bridge too. The closer we got, I realized what was going on.... There in the middle of the road, laid a lifeless body. The lady's name was Christy Vernon. Her husband was driving on the interstate and somehow he lost control and she was thrown from the car and fell to her death.

I had never in my life seen or felt what we did that day. We kind of blocked the road so that traffic would use a different route and the other man was calling the police and we were able to help him help the police find the woman's location. The news reported that those up above on the interstate couldn't find the body. There never would have thought she would have been thrown over the bridge. It's such a small spot on the interstate.

I pass this spot almost daily and I can't say that I've driven by once in the last six months without thinking of the Vernon family. I've wondered if she was a mother? I've wondered if she was a Chrisitan? We know she was someone's wife, daughter, friend, and I'm sure she had many other roles. I've wondered how her husband is doing? He survived, and I'm sure he doesn't go a second without thinking about that day.

All this to say... DON'T TAKE ANYTHING FORGRANTED!

I have some new pictures from this weekend to post, so this won't be up long!
